IT Asset deployment can provide a variety of challenges while providing assets to Users because everyone has an eye on New assets same will create challenges for the Asset team for equally Distribution of stock. Same time Asset team needs to map the Asset to the owner. However, it can easily manage by having a good ITAM tool.
Steps you can follow when allocating Assets or Replace old Assets for a large number of users
- Identify Priority list, you can check which user having more Priority or immediate requirement and possibly set P1, P2, P3 Priority.
- Provide Time line to each Priority.
- Map asset to User in your ITAM or Asset inventory.
- Handover Asset to User.
For Individual asset allocation, we can follow the normal Approval process like with Manger/Project Head Approval. Some organizations may set some process to put control on the expense for particular project-based revenue or different factor.
Best Practice:
- Create Asset Tag for each Asset
- Map asset to User in Asset inventory before Handover.
- Provide undertaken form to User and explain Asset Policy
- Follow some Method where Associate can confirm Asset is received.
- Put sticker on Asset, minimum it’s should cover organization Name, Asset Tag, Asset owner, Emergency Contact.
